Hmmm, I send gift cards from Amazon all the time but I always check the gift option so I can add a note and if I remember correctly, the note is always on the packing slip. I hate to say this but maybe there was actually a note and you didn't realize it. I know that's of no help now, sorry, but hopefully you'll be able to figure it out soon.
